“In any action, the whole body should be light and agile, or Ching and Lin. One should feel that all of the body’s joints are connected with full linkage”.
Every movement of Taiji Quan is expressed from Wuji (Wu-Chi – infinity) to Taiji (supreme ultimate), or from pre-consciousness to actual internal consciousness. Movement is never initiated merely by the hands, arms or legs, instead the mind itself directs the body to function as a single unit with every joint linked. The body should be agile and natural, the movement continuous and constant like the mountain spring flowing unceasingly into the stream.
“Chi should be stirred. The spirit of vitality, or Shen (spirit), should be concentrated inwards”.
Chang San-Feng – The founder of Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan)
